Safe Soap & Lotion & Lip Balm, Oh my!

All of my soaps are handmade at home . . . by me.  I test every batch on myself before I sell anything, so I know my products work for chemically sensitive people.  I use only the finest ingredients and they will all be listed so that you will know if there is something unusual that might bother you.  For instance, I can tolerate soybean oil in a soap but I have a friend who is very sensitive to soy and doesn’t want to risk having it in her soap.

Most of my soaps are unscented, but occasionally for the fun of it I will use an essential oil.  I’ll sometimes add things like ground oats, honey, cinnamon, turmeric, oregano & coffee for color, texture and appearance.  The lye I use is food-grade quality (meaning they use it for olives, lutefisk and hominy).  My soaps are safe safe safe, very mild, give lots of bubbles, lather well and last a looong time.

My soap mold is a large plastic tub and using a kitchen knife, I cut the bars by hand.  Therefore, the bar measurements are approximate, and fairly accurate, but there may be slight variations one way or the other.

Are these little pots of Lip Balm adorable or what? This stuff is great for cracked lips & fingers.  My kids like to set this in the microwave for 10 seconds before putting it on; they say it works even better. (I like mine at room temp) Lightly scented with essential oils.  Glycerin, almond oil, beeswax, castor oil, lanolin, essential oils of eucalyptus, wintergreen & peppermint.  Pots measure 1.5″ wide by .75″ tall; and hold .5 ounces of lip balm.     $4.50

Burgundy Spice is a deep rosy color and has a cinnamony scent.  It lathers well and is a unique-looking bar in the soap dish. Soy, lard, canola, olive, palm & castor oils, mango, shea & cocoa butters, food-grade lye, spring water, bentonite clay, Tea Tree oil and cinnamon.  2.75″ x 1.5″ x 1.5″–3.8 oz  $6.00

Herbal Delight has a nice tan color with flecks (the herbs) and has a subtle herb scent. It lathers well, and is fun to use in the tub when you feel like pampering yourself. Canola, safflower, palm, soybean, castor, grape seed & olive oils, shea & mango butters, food-grade lye, spring water, glycerin, goat milk, dill weed & oregano. 3″ x 1.5″ x 1.5″–4 oz   $6.00

Jojoba Bar Shampoo works great as a regular bar soap but really sparkles as a shampoo.  Expect mounds of rich lather with this bar.  I’ve been using this for years and am very satisfied with its performance. Oatmeal is one of my best sellers.  Very mild & healing on your skin.  Last summer I was covered with mosquito bites, took a bath with this and the stinging stopped.  Lard, soybean, rice bran & castor oils, mango & shea butters, food-grade lye, spring water, beeswax, honey & ground oats.  2.75″ x 1″ x 1″   2.6oz   $6.00 

Orange Blossom is a slightly scented bar that has orange peel and orange juice in it.  Lots of creamy lather.  Canola, soybean, lard, olive, palm & castor oils, mango, shea & cocoa butters, food-grade lye, spring water, orange juice, orange peel, beeswax, glycerin & honey. 3.5″ x .75″ x .75″  2.8 oz   $6.00

Coffee & Cream is an exfoliating bar with the base soap acting much like a castile.  It’s made with real coffee & real cream, has great big bubbles and is lots of fun. Soybean, palm, canola, castor, rice bran & jojoba oils, shea & mango butters, food-grade lye, spring water, coffee, cream, glycerin & teff flour.  3.75″ x 1″ x 1″  3.5 oz   $6.00

Peppermint & Poppyseed is a fantastic bar that has phenomenal lather and a pleasing hint of peppermint.  The poppyseeds give it a very interesting appearance.  These are big bars, weighing 7 oz. each.  Dimensions are 4″ x 3″ x 1″  Tallow, lard & soybean oil, food-grade lye, spring water, poppyseeds & peppermint essential oil.  $7.00

Sweet Chamomile has cornmeal in it to give it a scrubby quality, and turmeric imparts that nice golden color.  Each bar weighs in at a husky 7 oz. each.  The chamomile gives this bar a sweet smell that makes me want to take a bite out of it.  Lots of good bubbles & the lumpy top is kinda cool.  Dimensions are 4″ x 3″ x 1″  Tallow, lard & soybean oil, food-grade lye, spring water, cornmeal, turmeric & chamomile.  $7.00

Just Bubbles is made of tallow, lard, soybean oil, food-grade lye & spring water; no other additives.  Just a plain & simple bar of soap! Weighing in at 7 oz. each, these bars will remind you of a castile soap, mild & slightly translucent in appearance.  Get ready for awesome bubbles & creamy lather. Bars measure 4.5 x 2.5 x 1 and have an interestingly lumpy top.  $7.00

After all I’ve heard about Salt Soap, I was eager to try a batch and find out for myself. It turned out a snow white, which I find very appealing. It has very nice lather and a unique feel & appearance. Try this when you’re wishing you could be at the ocean!  Bars weigh 6 oz. and measure 1.75 x 1.5 x 4. Coconut oil, spring water, food-grade lye & salt.  $7.00

This Goat Milk Soap came out such a beautiful color, it reminds me of caramel candy.  It has a wonderful, luxurious feel and thick creamy lather.  Unlike any other bar of soap I’ve ever tried.  Select this when you want to pamper yourself.  Bars weight 5 oz. and measure 4 x 1.5 x 1.5  Tallow, lard, soybean oil, spring water, food-grade lye & goat milk.  $8.00

This batch of Oatmeal Soap actually smells like a bowl of oatmeal! Someone requested bigger bars, and I decided to double the oatmeal.  I love it!  If you want a really scrubby bar, this one will please you.  Bars measure 3.5 x 1.75 x 1.5 and weigh 5 oz.  Lard, soybean oil, spring water, food-grade lye, oatmeal.  $7.00

You will love my homemade lotion.  It’s the best I’ve come across and I’m really pleased with it. It’s not greasy yet it soaks in and moisturizes nicely.
